That first week of January was extremely long and tiring. I rewatched Saturday’s game and did some extra film yesterday on my day off. Other than that I caught up on my rest to prepare me for this week. Today I woke up at around 8:00 am and wasn’t hungry so I decided to grab some Starbucks coffee on the way to hold me over until lunch time. Practice started at 10:00 and today we started with a good stretch and some laps to get us warmed up. Our focus this week is to improve our plays. For some reason in our games, we have a hard time executing our plays correctly. Therefore, we are going through each one step by step so we know each counter to each play. We then guarded each other to see how it works against the defense. After practice was over we had individuals from 12:00-1:00 where I focused on having the guards score off the certain screens we have in our plays. This involved a lot of attacking the rim downhill. Once individuals were over we headed to lunch at the cafeteria where we had chicken and rice. I wasn’t a fan of it so the other assistant coach and I headed back to Chil Fil A to get some nuggets and fries. Once lunch was over the coaches headed to the office until dinner time to talk about some recruits we should reach out to. We made a list and decided who would reach out to whom. Dinner then started at 5:00 where we had the same thing we had for lunch. I decided to skip and order my favorite food, Chipotle. After dinner we had a team game night which started at 6:00. I brought games such as UNO, Trouble, Monopoly, and Sorry while the other coaches brought many more. We had snacks played games and listened to music. It was such a fun time and great team bonding. We finished at around 8:00 and all headed home.
