Today was an early start. I woke up at about 6:30 a.m. made some breakfast and then put on my game day outfit. Since today’s game is away, we must meet at the school at 9:00 a.m. I left my house at about 7:45 a.m. to get ahead of morning traffic. I also stopped at Starbucks because I needed coffee this morning. We left campus at 9:00 sharp and headed to Old Westbury’s campus. With some traffic, we arrived at around 10:00. The team had the speaker so they put on their pregame playlist and got dressed. At 11:00 I brought them out to start warming up. Time flew before we knew it, it was time for our pregame talk. We told them no matter what, even if we don’t make playoffs we will never give up. Win, lose, or draw we will always be the hardest-working team on the floor. The girls seemed positive after our talk. We went back out to finish warming up and start the lineups. Tipoff started at 12:00. We were up by a lot so we were able to play the players who don’t usually get the opportunity to play. It was great seeing everyone touch the floor today, they all looked like they had fun with one another. In our post-game talk, we told the girls how proud we are of their improvement and how we admire their “fight on” mentality. Even though there’s a big chance we won’t make playoffs, this season was still one to remember. It was about 2:30 after our talk so we got dressed and headed out. We stopped at Chipotle to feed the girls. We got back to the school at 4:00. The girls went on their way while we stayed back to do our routine talk about the game. We knew our chances were slim but we weren’t ready to give up just yet. We still had a few games before senior night and we were determined to finish this month out strong. On that note, the 5 of us headed home at 5:00.
