January 5, 2024: We Made It To Friday ( 14 hours)

Last night I came home and went straight to sleep because I knew today would be another long day. It started at 8:00 am for team breakfast. As coaches, we eat every meal with our players because no one else is on campus. If the cafeteria isn’t open, we are obligated to buy food for them. Today for breakfast the lunch lady made us pancakes and bacon. Since breakfast is a very simple meal to make I trusted them and decided to eat it and I must say, I was not disappointed. After breakfast, we headed to the weight room where we had a 10:00 am lift. We don’t know how much our girls lift over the summer so we try our best to get them stronger as the season goes on. I believe that lifting with the boys makes them work harder. After the lift, we had lunch at 11:30 am. Today they made grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup for us. I can admit that I’m getting used to the cafeteria food here, it isn’t so bad after all. After lunch, we had a couple of hours to spare before dinner so all the coaches went to the local high school to recruit. We have a few girls written down that we think would fit perfectly into our program so we decided to show up at one of their home games. After the game, we talked to her for a bit and set up a visit date for her to come check out the campus. We then headed back to campus and had team dinner at 5:00. It was nothing special, I’m just grateful I get to save my money on food every day. After dinner, we did our pregame scout on Purchase which is who we play tomorrow. We went over the keys needed to win and what we must do to stop them defensively. After film we went to the court to go over what we just discussed. We went over their plays and what defense we would use to stop them. Once practice was over the coaches stayed back and talked about our feelings towards game day tomorrow. Once we were done we all walked to our cars and drove home.
