January 30, 2024: Last Game Of The Month. Will We Make Playoffs? ( 6 hours)

After a good night’s sleep, I woke up feeling positive about today. I went to my local gym to workout at around 11:00 a.m. After a great workout, I picked up a protein shake with salad and watched some television while I ate lunch. As soon as I looked at the clock, it was 4:00 already meaning I had to get ready for the game. I put on my game-day outfit and headed to the deli to get an energy drink. I was so pumped for today, that I needed my energy to last all night. I arrived at the gym at 6:00 and sat in the office with the coaches until warmup time. We were all excited about today, the energy around the room was extremely positive. At 7:00 I went to the gym to start the pregame warmup and I noticed the team’s energy through the roof. I don’t think I’ve seen them like this all season. Once the clock hit 20 minutes we went into the locker room for our pregame talk. The team was so positive they were screaming out words of encouragement to each other. We didn’t even have to do much talking because the girls were undoubtedly ready. We headed back onto the floor, shot some free throws, and then proceeded to the bench for the national anthem and starting lineups. It was a back-and-forth battle all game, but we were able to win it by 4. We walked into the locker room and instantly got soaked with water. This was my first time getting soaked as a coach, and it’s a memory I will never forget. I had nothing but positive words to say because my stat sheet from the game had more + signs than - signs. It was late, it was about 9:30 at this point so I ordered them pizza for dinner. We all ate and reminisced on an amazing game. After all the pizza was demolished the team headed back to their dorms. We gave them the day off tomorrow because they deserved it. The coaches and I went out to celebrate the big win. We all stated to one another that this could be it. For the first time in history, Sarah Lawrence College could make the playoffs. There’s still some time and a lot could happen, but right now we are in a good space. At this point it was midnight but we didn’t mind because we have the day off tomorrow. We then headed home looking forward to the rest of the season.
