January 26, 2024: Community Service ( 6 hours)

My day started at 10:00 a.m. I woke up made myself some breakfast and then got dressed for practice. Today we have lift at noon, so I Ieft my house at around 11:00 and stopped at Starbucks to get my latte. I arrived at the gym and watched the girls weightlift while I sipped my drink. It ended at around 1:45 so we the team headed down to the gym to start stretching for our 2:00 practice. Today we did not cover much because we went hard yesterday so we wanted to relax more today. We did some shooting drills and went over our plays for an hour. Once 3:00 hit we had to head over to the local elementary school because we had team community service. The team played games with the kids, read with them, and even talked to them about what it’s like to play college basketball. The other coaches and I also gave a speech about college basketball and how players evolve at this level. We let the kids play some of our players one-on-one and even in a game of knockout. We were so grateful and excited to give back to the community because these young girls will one day be in the position we are in. It was a blessing to be able to encourage them and for them to physically see that anything is possible as long as they put their mind to it. We left the elementary school at 5:00 to head back to campus. Some girls had class so we let them go while we talked in the office until 6:00 about tomorrow's practice plan.
