As far as time, today will be another easy day. We are in crunch time now so we need our team to be feeling 100% on game days. Spring semester has also just started so the girls have class therefore now we have to move practice to 7:00 pm to accommodate their schedules. I woke up today at around 10:00 and went straight to the gym to workout. Once I was finished I went out for lunch with some high school friends so we could catch up. After lunch, I came home and babysat my niece for a couple of hours. Once 4:00 hit I knew it was time to get ready for practice. I did my daily Starbucks run and headed to the athletic center. I got there at 6:00 and went into the office to talk to the other coaches about today’s practice plan. We went down to the gym at 7:00 and started our warmup. We have 4 days until our next game, so we decided to go hard today in practice. We started with some conditioning and then we played up and down the rest of practice. We had our whistles and made the team run for each turnover, missed boxout, and any lack of effort we noticed. We are at a very crucial point in the season so everything matters, all coaches must pay attention to detail. Even though we were getting on them, they stayed mentally tough and that showed us that our team is strong enough to overcome the rut we’re in. Practice ended at 9:00, so we let the girls head home to rest. The head coach told the other assistants and I to stay back in the gym so he could talk to us. He told us to keep our foot on the gas and don’t let up on our girls, his exact words were “We will not let them fail”. We always believed in our girls, we just have to make sure they believe in themselves. After the talk, we left at 11:00.
